A Dam of Merit award honors cows that meet strict selection criteria including early puberty and conception, regular calving intervals, and above average weaning weights on at least 3 calves.
Of the 34,863 assessed cows only 5.5% qualified for Dam of Merit.
The Dam of Distinction award honors cows that meet the same high standards, in addition to exhibiting superior long term productivity with at least 8 calves.
Only 1.1% of all active Gelbvieh and Balancer cows qualify for the elite Dam of Distinction award.
